February Flurry

As always we had a busy month, quite a flurry of activity.  As well we had our share of flurries outside with the weather.  Today I think the "high" is a balmy -20.  Everyone here is ready for the warmer temperatures promised for the end of the week.

The boys love making "cozy beds" in our family room, arranging couch cushions and topping them off with the bedding from their rooms.  This often happens on a weekend PJ day.

Here is Matthew and his ever trusty Ted.  Matthew's class is learning about community history and had to choose 10 things they'd bring if they were moving to a new country.  It was hard for him to narrow it down, but Ted was absolutely nonnegotiable.

Here is Emily in a dress she received for Christmas.  Upon seeing her,  Andrew exclaimed "Emily you look beautiful...as beautiful as a tablecloth."  We were laughing pretty hard at his unique insight, or Andrewism.  She is playing with her "little Lambie"from New Zealand and "big Lambie" which have been favorites lately.

Here is Andrew the Joey in the new Kangaroo at the zoo.

We have two koala cuties visiting us from the San Diego zoo.  This one is enjoying the eucalyptus that has to be flown in a couple of times every week for them.

A typical koala pose with this cuddly one fast asleep.  At the zoo they were saying that the narcotic properties of eucalyptus inducing sleep, that I have always believed, is a myth, but they sleep because leaves do not leave them with a lot of energy to spare.  We'll need to check the truth out with Julie and Amanda!

Here we are visiting the Science Centre, the day we ran into Tori Spelling and her family there.

Emily and Andrew liked doing some Guitar Hero practicing in the Creative Kids Museum part of the Centre.

Matthew's school put on a musical called "Snow Biz".

The Grad Twos were the Snow Scientists.

Andrew has become super crafty.  He loves Sticky Mosaics, where you match up the foam sticky to the right square to uncover a picture.  Unfortunately they are often sold out of these at the store, but I buy them up when I can.

Andrew has been talking up birthdays a lot lately with his right around the corner.  One day he decided it was Dorothy's birthday and the kids had a party for her.  Here she is propped up on her pillow chair.

She enjoyed quite a healthy birthday snack!

After it was time for presents.  The kids had wrapped up some things for her, and Ted helped her unwrap them.

Bruce and I love bakeries and good bread.  He has been wanting to try making his own.  After 2 months of reading the cookbooks he received for Christmas, he was finally ready to put the theory to practice.  Here he is with his first loaf, a whole wheat bread that turned out well.  This week he made some cinnamon raisin bread that is to die for.  I am glad the nicer weather is coming so we can more easily work off the extra calories we are consuming with his new hobby!
