Spring...well sort of

Spring is here on the calendar, but at times it has not felt like it with our weather.  We had lots of snow through April and into May this year.  The long weekend was hot and sunny, but this week has been cool and rainy.  Despite this all we have been up to lots and here are some of our photos in reverse date order.

We were in sunny Edmonton for the long weekend.  No trip there is complete to Matthew and Andrew without a visit to Chuck E. Cheese's.  Here is Andrew driving with the rodent himself.

We had fun visiting with friends and enjoyed our first popsicles of the season.  Before this weekend it had mostly been "hot chocolate" weather.  Matthew's latest thing is having lemonade stands to earn money and really he has only been out twice as the weather has been too miserable.

We finally put away the turtlenecks, though I could have worn one again today.  Here is Emily in some sun clothes.  She still does her signature pose sucking her left thumb while her right hand plays with her hair, or hat.

Here is Matthew on a disc swing in Edmonton.  We are putting a new playground in our community next weekend, and there will be one of these for the kids to play on.  They can hardly wait!

Here is a shot from at home.  All three children love sitting, or bouncing up and down, on this little couch and watching a bit of "George".

Musical Emily has taken over Matthew's old drum as her own.  She loves playing on it as he once did.

For Mother's Day Andrew decorated this vase at school and planted an herb for me which he was most proud of.

Matthew's school had a Mother's Day tea and his class presented us all with Cookie Bouquets they had made.

If you have been following the blog you might remember C-Bear, the bear from Matthew's class who gets to go home with each child for 2 weekends of the year. We had our second weekend and the kids all loved having our visitor here.  Matthew had to do a journal page about the weekend adventures and wrote "C-Bear and I made brakfist for mom.  C-Bear and I play the ukulaly.  C-Bear and I wached TV.  I read a  book to C-Bear.  C-Bear and I played baskitball.  C-Bear and I played hockey.  C-Bear and I went on my skooder.  C-Bear and I went biking on a jump.  Love Matthew"  His drawing shows them going over some mountain bike jumps and he took a photo of C-Bear with the ukulele and helping to make waffles.

Emily loved carrying C-Bear around, and Andrew liked helping to brush his hair/teeth, put him to bed and eat breakfast with him.

Emily really enjoys coloring, but unlike the boys who always stayed on the paper, she must be watched like a hawk.  She is not above coloring all over herself, or anything she can get her hands on.

She is still a fine motor girl, loving putting money into the piggy bank over and over again.
This is from the end of April, for the Police half marathon which runs right in front of our house.  You can see the snow on the lawn across the street.  Matthew thought of making a sign which said "Go Runners Go", and had some music on for them.  They were all most appreciative giving him a lot of positive comments, high fives, and taking his picture.
